In 1992, some taxi companies have adapted taxis to the Olympic Games. In 1995 Barna-Taxi has involved its activities with the European project of Euro-taxi including a group of adapted vehicles in the collective and individual transport of disabled people. Since 1999 a movement from Barna Taxi arises culminating in the non-profit-making organism called Taxi Amic formed by a group of taxi drivers. Months later, this organism is set up in premises where is installed the central equipped with GPS and the most advanced technology from the moment.

The 1st of January on 2005, after the big quantity of activities that Taxi Amic is developing, the project is consolidated in a limited company with the objective of to be able to guarantee the service offered and to increase the projection of the project. Nowadays, Taxi Amic SL give services to institutions as Ajuntament de Barcelona (TCC), Ajuntament de Sta Coloma de Gramanet (TCC), Ajuntament de Sant Joan d'Espí, Ajuntament de l'Hospitalet (Rosanbus), Generalitat de Catalunya by means of Departament d'Educació, Consell Comarcal del Barcelonès and A.S.P.A.C.E.
